English Lyrics Translation

Right Hand

Even though I died yesterday Earth still revolves today
Even though I died yesterday you still don’t know

Being cold like water Overflowing and
Flowing Flowing I am washed away

Even though I died yesterday Earth still sneers at me
No one is to blame!
Right, no one is to blame!

How much longer do I have to cry, face forward, and smile to become strong?
What should I do with my corpse?

Even though I died yesterday Earth doesn’t show any sign of coming to a halt
Like the wind, disappearing on a whim and
Turning into nothing Turning into nothing I turn into nothing

Because I died yesterday, there’s no meaning today
The world doesn’t have an interest in me
The world doesn’t have an interest in me

How much longer should I cry, face forward, and smile to become strong?
Does my right hand look appetizing?

As long as I keep on living, face forward, and scream, I’ll be able to meet you, won’t I?
My right hand, how much longer should I reach it out,
Find love, and feel sad to be able to keep on living?
My corpse has already been burned

SORA’s Translation*

Right Hand

Even though I died yesterday the world keeps on turning today
Even though I died yesterday you still haven’t realized

Pouring over, coldly like water
It flows, it flows, I flow away

Even though I died yesterday the world keeps on mocking
No one is to blame
Yes, it’s nobody’s fault

How much more do I need to cry and look forwards to become stronger?
With my corpse what shall we do?

Even though I died yesterday there is no sign that world stopped spinning
Like the breeze, it just disappears on its own volition
Turns to nothing, turns to nothing, just turns to nothing

Even though I died yesterday, it doesn’t have a meaning today
The world isn’t interested in me
The world isn’t interested in me

How much more do I need to cry and look forwards to become stronger?
How does my right arm taste?

How much more do I have to live, look forward and scream to be able to meet you
My right arm, how much more must I stretch out
Find love, and sadness for me to keep on living?
My corpse has already burned away

Translation Notes

みぎて
Right Hand

みぎて (migite) actually written as 右手 means “right hand” or “right arm“. Its second meaning is “right-hand-side” or “to one’s riht”.

水のように冷たく こぼれ落ち
流れる 流れる 流される
Being cold like water Overflowing and
Flowing Flowing I am washed away

冷たく (tsumetaku) is in its adverbial form, so its actually “Coldly, like water“. Also, 冷たい (tsumetai) means “cold” as in “(it) feel(s) cold“, but also “being coldhearted“.

It might also be interesting to know that 水に流す (mizu ni nagasu) means “don’t cry over spilled milk” and 涙を流す (namida o nagasu) means “to shed tears”.

流される (nagasareru) just means “being washed away”, but I interpreted it as “I am washed away”.

あとどれくらい泣いて前を向いて笑えば強くなるのでしょうか?
僕の死体はどうしましょうか?
How much longer do I have to cry, face forward, and smile to become strong?
What should I do with my corpse?

The first line can also be translated as “As long as I keep on crying, facing forward, and smiling, I should become strong, shouldn’t I?” or “If I keep on crying, facing forward, and smiling, I will become strong, won’t I?

The second one could also be “What should my dead body (corpse) do?”

僕は昨日死んだからもう今日に意味はないよ
Because I died yesterday, there’s no meaning today

The よ (yo) emphasizes the sentences. “There’s no meaning at all” or “So there’s no meaning anymore!

僕の右手はおいしいですか?
Does my right hand look appetizing?

Literally “Is my right hand good/tasty/delicious?”

Alex (RockinJapan)

Hey. I'm Alex. I've been living in Japan since 2015. Before moving to Tokyo, I traveled through Japan for 7 months to visit all 47 prefectures. Traveling and staying in Japan has been so much fun and such an incredible experience that I decided to write about it. I noticed there isn't a lot of information about hot springs and onsen towns in Japan, so I'm focusing on this topic. Hopefully, my articles will help you to get the most out of your trip and to fully enjoy your time in Japan! Alex
